Privacy Policy
Version 2026-10-v1. Effective October 2026.
Kabimo is an AI tutor for CBSE Classes 6 to 10, built by a small team of parents and engineers. Kabimo is in a private, invite-only beta. This policy explains what we collect, why, where it goes, and what you can ask us to do. Questions: hello@kabimo.ai.
Who is responsible
Kabimo is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@kabimo.ai. We will add our registered company details once registration is complete.
Children
Children use Kabimo only through a parent's or guardian's account. A parent creates each child's profile and agrees to this policy before any child is added. Children cannot sign up on their own. Children do not get a Google or Firebase account through Kabimo; they sign in with a username and PIN that you set.
What we collect
About you, the parent:
- Your name and email address, and how you sign in (Google, or email and password).
- If you choose to add them: phone number, city and state.
- A record of your consent: the policy version, the date and time, and the IP address and browser type you used.
About your child:
- Name and class, a username and a 4-digit PIN. We store the PIN only in a scrambled (hashed) form that we cannot read.
- If you choose to add them: date of birth, school name, section, city and state, hobbies, and an emoji avatar.
- Settings you choose: tutor character, lesson language, and how your child likes to be encouraged.
What your child does in Kabimo:
- Messages with the AI tutor, stored in full so the tutor can continue the conversation and you can see progress.
- Quiz and test answers, scores, stars, streaks and time spent.
- If your child uses homework check: a photo of the homework page and our written reading of it.
A learning profile built from that activity, used only to teach your child. It records:
- which chapters and topics your child finds easy or hard, and the earlier topics those depend on;
- the kinds of mistakes made in the last 30 days (misunderstanding the idea, steps in the wrong order, arithmetic slips, careless errors);
- usual session length, time of day your child tends to study, and typical pause between messages;
- current and longest study streak;
- hobbies and settings you have chosen.
We do not collect your child's gender or photo, and we do not take or store payment details during the beta.
If you joined our waitlist on the website, we keep the name, contact (phone or email), class, subjects and language you entered.
Why we use it
- To run your account and let your child sign in.
- To teach your child: the tutor uses your child's class, progress, learning profile and recent conversation to decide what to explain next.
- To show you your child's progress.
- To keep Kabimo working and safe, and to fix problems.
- To contact you about your account and the beta.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for advertising, and we show no ads. We do not use your child's data to train AI models.
Where it is stored and who processes it
Our servers, database and file storage run on Google Cloud in Mumbai, India. Database backups are also kept in Mumbai.
These providers process data for us, only to run Kabimo:
- Anthropic (USA): the AI model behind the tutor, quiz marking and greetings. It receives your child's messages and recent conversation, class, hobbies and a summary of the learning profile. We remove email addresses and phone numbers from messages before sending them, and we do not add your child's name to anything we send. If your child types a name into a message, it is sent as written.
- Google Firebase Authentication (Google's global servers): your sign-in details (email, name, and phone if you add one). No child data.
- Google reCAPTCHA: used only when you verify a phone number.
- Vercel: hosts our website. Our internal support tools, which our team uses to view accounts and conversations, run on Vercel in Mumbai.
- Google Cloud Logging (Google's global servers): technical service logs, kept for 30 days. We do not write your child's messages or names into these logs.
- Waitlist only: HubSpot (USA) stores waitlist sign-ups, and Twilio (USA) sends us a WhatsApp alert for each one.
Storage on your device
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and remember simple choices. We use no advertising or analytics cookies. Google reCAPTCHA may set its own cookies when you verify a phone number.
How long we keep it
- Account data, the learning profile and tutor conversations: while your account is open.
- Homework photos: deleted automatically after 90 days. Our written reading of the homework is kept while your account is open.
- Service logs: 30 days.
- If you ask us to delete your family's data, we delete it within 30 days. Backup copies expire on their own shortly after.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you and your child, correct it, or delete it and close your account. Write to hello@kabimo.ai from the email on your account. We aim to reply within 7 days.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will tell you in Kabimo or by email before the change applies, and ask for your consent again where needed.
